About Mike
Prior to moving to North Texas in 2006, Mike represented the interests of large corporations and insurance companies, primarily in the areas of product liability, toxic tort, employment, construction defect, and insurance coverage litigation. In 2004 and 2005, he was lead counsel for a respirator manufacturer in Federal Multidistrict Litigation consolidating the claims of approximately 10,000 plaintiffs from Texas, Alabama, and Mississippi.

With over 25 years of experience, Mike Young is a seasoned litigation attorney specializing in commercial, estate, and life insurance litigation for businesses and individuals. He believes that achieving great results stems from hard work and a thorough understanding of both the facts and the law. Knowing that litigation is a team effort, Mike prioritizes frequent communication with his clients to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed effectively.
Mike’s Focus
Mike has represented clients across a wide geographic range, from Colombia to Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and New York, in insurance, business, and estate disputes. As the author of the blog “Texas Probate Litigation,” he provides valuable insights and updates on probate, trust, and fiduciary litigation in Texas. Mike is dedicated to securing inheritance rights for heirs and beneficiaries through will contests and protecting the financial interests of family members in life insurance and fiduciary disputes. His expertise in this field was recognized by the Dallas Bar Association, which published his article on life insurance beneficiary disputes in the October 2012 edition of its Headnotes magazine.
In addition to his litigation work, Mike is also proficient in handling appeals for all civil matters. He has successfully argued appeals before the Federal Fifth Circuit in New Orleans and the Fifth Court of Appeals in Dallas, demonstrating his broad legal acumen and commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for his clients. Mike’s extensive experience and dedication make him a formidable advocate in both trial and appellate courts.
Community and Accolades
Mike has taught Business Law and Organizations at Austin College as an adjunct professor, demonstrating his commitment to educating future legal professionals. He and his wife, Leslie, are deeply involved in their local community, participating in various activities and initiatives. Mike has served on the boards of the Rehabilitation Center of Sherman and Family Promise of Grayson County, contributing his expertise to support these important organizations. Additionally, he has held the position of President of the Grayson County Bar Association and served on the Rules Committee for the Federal Eastern District of Texas, showcasing his leadership and dedication to the legal profession. Through these roles, Mike has made significant contributions to both his community and the broader legal field, underscoring his passion for service and excellence.
Early in his career, Mike served as the Associate Editor of the Houston Law Review. He was a National Merit Scholar and was awarded the Peter T. Flawn Presidential Scholarship. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center and is a proud Texas Longhorn alumnus, having earned his BBA in Finance from the University of Texas.
