John Hunter Smith

An experienced criminal trial lawyer, John Hunter Smith represents clients throughout North Texas. He is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, has been named among the National Trial Lawyers Association Top 100 Criminal Defense attorneys and is AV Exemplary Rated by Martindale Hubbell. Mr. Smith’s areas of expertise include criminal law (both federal and state), DWI (DUI), drug charges, sex crimes and violent crime, as well as theft, burglary, vehicular crime and more.

Known for his expertise, accessibility, toughness, and an extraordinary ability to obtain results, Mr. Smith does not compromise when it comes to his clients’ lives and future. He believes deeply in each case he takes on, and has an innate ability to find the heart of his clients’ stories and bring them to life in the courtroom.

After serving as an Army Staff Sergeant and receiving awards as an Airborne Ranger, Mr. Smith graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Business Administration in 1997.  In 2001, he graduated from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, which is now Texas A&M School of Law. Mr. Smith has completed additional coursework form Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College and teaches numerous classes across the State.
